SGA developed over 75 alignment alternatives for a new movable bike/ped bridge that would span the estuary between the cities of Oakland and Alameda, CA. SGA designed both lift and bascule bridge structure type concepts for the feasible alignment alternatives, which were assessed based on user experience, estuary navigability by maritime vessels, adjacency impacts, and opportunities for placemaking. SGA prepared 3D visualizations for the top-ranked bridge concepts, including rendered animations and 360-degree interactive panoramas, and prepared presentations for meetings with technical and stakeholder committees, agency representatives, and elected officials.
