SGA led the planning phase public engagement process to determine the preferred location, alignment, and profile geometrics. SGA also designed the mode separation features, prepared detailed technical project design guidelines, and provided structure type concepts for this landmark bridge. The project features wide curving approaches, mode separation between pedestrians and cyclists, gentle slopes, rest areas with views over the water, and nonstandard structural forms designed to invite users, improve safety for both cyclists and pedestrians, and attract the curiosity of passing motorists. The color palette was chosen to complement the adjacent wetland context.
