For the Connect Orinda Plan, which identifies ways to beautify Downtown Orinda and improve travel safety between the Village, Theatre District, and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station areas, SGA analyzed as-built drawings of the freeway and BART structures and developed a digital 3D model of existing conditions. Using the 3D model, SGA developed and assessed the feasibility and conceptual costs of shifting retaining walls under Highway 24 to expand an existing pedestrian sidewalk into an accessible Class I multi-use pathway, and constructing a new 15-foot-wide bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the highway and BART tracks.
