SGA was hired by the City of Rohnert Park, CA, to lead the Feasibility Study to improve bicycle and pedestrian access across Highway 101, which was completed in 2022. The Study focused on seven potential crossing locations, assessed multiple alignments for both undercrossings and overcrossings of the highway, and made design recommendations. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SGA organized and conducted an online community workshop and presented the project at two web-based public meetings with the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Planning Commission. For the top-ranked alternatives, SGA coordinated with Caltrans and the Sonoma County Water Agency and conducted a hydraulic assessment to determine flood stage implications and how to design a crossing that would keep users, and the structure safe. Following the City Council’s unanimous support for a new bridge located at Copeland Creek, SGA was hired to lead the Caltrans Project Initiation Document phase, which was completed in 2024 ahead of schedule and under budget.
